So You Want to Tell People the Truth

A boy sought advice on how to show people the truth. He heard of a great man living atop a mountain. He walked many miles, slowly ascending the mountain, all the while thinking of all the truths he would show people when he learned the secret.

He found the man sitting cross-legged in his house, eating a Big Mac. The boy sought to introduce himself, but the words failed him.

“I know who you are. You are a fool,” the old man said and  took a bite of his Big Mac and said, “You came here because you want to become a great speaker of truth. Of course ,I can show you how. I can explain what binds foolishness to men’s souls. I can show you how to reduce all arguments to dust and ashes. I can show you how to make men clamor at your every breath.”

He took another bite of his Big Mac and then a drink of his Coke.… Read the rest

The Event of a Tyrannized Life

The hardest part of talking about  any experience of social or spiritual oppression  is it is an EVENT that takes place around some of the most personal stuff. By EVENT I mean a longstanding progression of interaction. There is never a single moment, one deciding action where the victim can point and say: “Yup, right there. That is the bad thing I’m talking about.”

And very often, the victim does not know how much they are being taken advantage of. Or even more insidious: they are told the exploitation is God-intended and God-inspired.

The abuse and tyranny occur largely in private about things most folk would like to keep private. To get the conflict, you need the details—often embarrassing details. While most people find the details of their life interesting, everybody else finds them tedious or scandalous. So, how do you tell a story that has lots of UGLY, lots of NECESSARY, but oh so boring details?… Read the rest

Bill Belichick and Other Lessons in Silliness

I originally posted this on SGMsurvivors.com some months ago:  http://www.sgmsurvivors.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=124

However, this is classic CJ Mahaney and SGM thinking and practice, so it bears repeating and repeating and repeating. >snicker<

Bill Belichick is not humble. Or so seems to be Vicar Charles Joseph’s assessment.

Heheh… this is rich. I’ve made it a point to ignore SGM doings for a long time. I probably shouldn’t have because now I realize how many choice moments of laughter I’ve missed.  This one article is so full of hilarity that I could write for a week with the jokes. http://www.sovereigngraceministries.com/Blog/post/Reflections-on-Super-Bowl-XLII.aspx

Before I digress into peals of mirth, let me focus my comments: CJ’s Belichick article is classic SGM non sequitur… sequitur.

Notice Vicar Charles Joseph’s comments: “Would he be humble and gracious in defeat? Sadly, he didn’t appear to be. Before the game officially ended, he had already left the field. Sure, he did make his way across the field to congratulate Tom Coughlin, but then he left the field and the game was not over!… Read the rest

Wolf Religion

Matthew 7:15-20
“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?7 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.18
A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them.

“My, how big your eyes are grandma!”

“Come closer my dear, for it is better to see you.”

Shoot, wrong story

Although…the tale of Ms. Riding Hood’s woe does have a striking similarity: a wolf in Grammy’s Jammies, a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

You get the picture. If the stories are any indication, then wolves do not seem particular about fashion as long as the costume makes it possible to hang close to the food.… Read the rest
